Spring Shirts

We love seeing all of you in your Spring Shirts, please remember that your Spring Shirt is a uniform item, please honor the following guidelines through the remainder of the season: 

  • Your spring shirt is a uniform item
  • You must wear a nametag!
  • NO freeriding in your spring shirt
  • NO consuming alcohol in your spring shirt
  • NO smoking or using tobacco products in your spring shirt
  • Treat it just like your uniform until the end of the season. 

 

If you still haven’t gotten your Spring Shirt yet, they are available for pickup or purchase in Uniforms. We aren’t selling extra T-shirts until we’re closer to the end of the season, we will update you when they are available for purchase for family & friends. 

 

Spreading Spring Stoke!

We are excited for our team to be able to invite a friend or family member to come try skiing or snowboarding as part of our Grow Visitation initiatives, inviting first-time guests to experience our mountain home. The Voucher is valid for 1 redemption for a single date for a Beginner Progression lift ticket (which includes Ballroom, Buttercup, Easy Rider, Daisy and Vista), a ski or snowboard rental package and a 2-hour group lesson. Please, note that components of the voucher are not individually redeemable – all are redeemed at the same time regardless of whether they are all used.

Reservations must be made 2 days prior to the preferred arrival date to coordinate the lesson assignments and rentals. If you are only redeeming the lift access portion of the voucher, no reservation is required – the lift access will only be valid on Ballroom, Buttercup, Easy Ride, Daisy & Vista.

How Dental Health Impacts Your Overall Health

The benefits of maintaining good dental health extend way beyond your mouth. The health of your teeth and gums has a major impact on your overall health. Not paying attention to the importance of good oral health can lead to painful, disabling, and costly health conditions. Additional factors can also have an effect on your oral health, explore how some factors do, below:

Bacteria in your dental plaque can affect other parts of your body, such as your heart and lungs. People with periodontal (gum) disease are nearly twice as likely to suffer from heart disease, according to the American Academy of Periodontology. Gum disease is caused by plaque buildup. Early signs include bleeding or puffy gums, bad breath, mouth sores, and receding gums. You can prevent plaque buildup by brushing at least twice a day and flossing every day, along with visiting your dentist every six months.

Diabetic patients with inadequate blood sugar control appear to develop gum disease more often and more severely and lose more teeth than those who control their diabetes. And because diabetes reduces the body’s resistance to infection, the gums are among the tissues likely to be affected. If you have diabetes, it’s important to maintain good oral hygiene and visit your dentist every six months (covered under the dental plan) to prevent periodontal disease.

Gingivitis is especially common during the second to eighth months of pregnancy and can result in red, puffy, or tender gums that bleed when you brush your teeth, which are caused by an increased level of the hormone progesterone in your system. If you’re having a baby, it’s very important to have regular dental checkups. During your pregnancy, your dentist may recommend more frequent cleanings to help you avoid any potential problems.

April: Oral Cancer Awareness Month

For over a decade, there has been an annual increase in the rate of oral and oropharyngeal cancers, with the diagnoses being approximately 54,000 in the U.S. in 2022. The traditional risk factors of tobacco use in all its forms, and high alcohol consumption put you at risk for oral cancer. But, since the U.S. doesn’t have a national screening policy for oral cancer, it is typically found in the later stages, which has a direct impact on the dismal survival rate. Even without seeing a dentist, you can do regular self-examinations at home.

  • Examine your lips, inside and out, for color and texture changes
  • Feel your gum tissue to make sure they are pale pink closest to your teeth. Look for discoloration, ulcerations, tissue texture, soreness or any growths. 
  • Compress the tissue on the inside of your cheeks feeling for bumps and looking for discoloration
  • Stick out your tongue and look all around for discoloration and inconsistent bumps (they should be fairly consistent in color and texture). 
  • Examine the floor and roof of your mouth. 
  • Lastly, open extra wide and look at your tonsils and throat. 

As you can see, it’s very important to take care of your oral health. If you’re enrolled in a dental plan, preventative visits are 100% covered most of the time. Make an appointment for your next dental checkup today!

Autism Awareness Month: Exploring the Basics of Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurological and developmental disability that affects an individual’s ability to communicate, interact with others, and behave appropriately in social situations. ASD can vary significantly from person to person. Still, it is estimated that 1 in 54 children in the United States is on the autism spectrum. It is essential to understand the basics of ASD to foster an understanding and supportive environment for those affected by this disorder. In honor of Autism Awareness Month, we’re sharing some history and fast facts about autism spectrum disorder, provided by Uprise Health, our EAP Provider.

The History of Autism

The term “autism” was first coined by Swiss psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler in 1911 to describe a specific type of schizophrenia. However, it wasn’t until 1943 that American child psychiatrist Leo Kanner first described autism as a distinct developmental disorder. Following this diagnosis, autism research began to grow exponentially as researchers sought to better understand the complexities of this condition. Today, autism has become a widely discussed topic. Numerous advances have been made in therapy options and resources for those with ASD.

Fast Facts about Autism and ASD

Autism isn’t One Single Condition

Contrary to popular belief, autism is not a single condition but a spectrum of conditions that affect individuals differently based on their unique neurological makeup and environment. This means two people diagnosed with ASD may experience vastly different symptoms and behaviors due to varying severity, environmental factors, etc. This is why it is important to remember that each person on the autism spectrum is unique!

Early Intervention is Key

When it comes to treating autism spectrum disorder, early intervention is critical! Studies have shown that early diagnosis combined with behavioral therapy can significantly improve outcomes for children diagnosed with ASD—helping them learn how to manage their symptoms and lead more independent lives as adults. Early detection can also help reduce stress among family members and allow them to access appropriate resources for support and treatment for their loved ones with ASD.

There is no “Cure” For Autism

Although there is no “cure” for autism spectrum disorder per se, many effective treatment options are available such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, sensory integration therapy, behavioral therapy, and more, which can help individuals cope better with their symptoms and improve overall functioning levels over time. Depending on the individual’s needs and situation, doctors may prescribe medications to support mental health or physical wellness.

People with Autism Are Valuable Members of Society

Despite challenges associated with having autism spectrum disorder, such as difficulty communicating or interacting socially with others, people who are diagnosed with autism or ASD should still be appreciated for their unique talents and abilities—they are valuable members of society just like everyone else! With proper support systems in place, such as family members or healthcare professionals specialized in working with those on the autism spectrum, these individuals can make meaningful contributions to our communities while still receiving appropriate care when needed.

In conclusion, understanding the basics of ASD helps us create an inclusive environment where those living with this condition feel safe, accepted, valued, and supported. If you know someone diagnosed on the autistic spectrum, remember they are valuable members of society who deserve love, acceptance, respect, kindness, patience —and above all —understanding!

With our season nearing its end, we’ve updated the Mountain Exchange request form to reflect our partner resorts’ operational days.
Please note: You are still responsible for ensuring the resort/gym/studio you are visiting is operational. 

We will continue the Mtn. Exchange program with participating resorts through our final day of operations, April 29th. We hope you have had the chance to visit one of our Mtn. Exchange friends this season, whether it be at a ski area, climbing gym, or yoga studio. We’re looking forward to exploring new exchange opportunities for the 23/24 season and continuing to offer this awesome privilege to our team.
